Ian Shaw signs to Jazz Village




Record label Jazz Village has announced the signing of "jazz singing star and national jazz treasure" Ian Shaw

Ian Shaw has joined the Jazz Village record label. Parent company Harmonia Mundi has announced the news, describing Shaw as a "jazz singing star and national jazz treasure." 

The singer, pianist, producer, raconteur and broadcaster is recording his fourteenth album, titled The Theory Of Joy. The album features Shaw and his trio on versions of songs by contemporary writers such as David Bowie, Michel Legrand and Joni Mitchell. Jazz Village plans to release the album in the autumn.

Shaw is twice winner of the BBC Jazz Award for Best Jazz Vocalist and a regular presenter on Jazz FM. He's recorded with jazz luminaries including Cedar Walton, Peter Ind, Guy Barker and Liane Carroll. He recently completed his first tour of Australia and is set to play a four-night engagement at Ronnie Scott's in September.

Harmonia Mundi, which specialises in classical, jazz and world music. Its current roster includes Kyle Eastwood, Tony Allen and Ahmad Jamal.
