Full Brecon Jazz programme announced

The full programme for this year’s Brecon Jazz has now been announced and includes Burt Bacharach and Gregory Porter

After the first four acts were named last month, the complete programme for Brecon Jazz Festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations this August has now been announced, with big names including Burt Bacharach, Gregory Porter (pictured), Jean Toussaint and Laura Mvula.

The festival will start a day earlier than usual with a performance by Burt Bacharach at Brecon Market Hall on the evening of Thursday 7 August. The six-time Grammy award winner and three-time Academy Award winner will play classic songs from his 60-year canon such as Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head and The Look Of Love.

The second day of the festival (8 August) will see performances from the Michael Wollny Trio, Jean Toussaint, Zara McFarlane, the Warren Vaché Quintet featuring Alan Barnes, and Loose Tubes, who are themselves reuniting for their 30th anniversary this year.

Highlights on the third day (9 August) include Laura Mvula, Troyka, Marius Neset, Fapy Lafertin, Kairos 4Tet, Mike Harries and the Root Doctors, and a tribute to the late Stan Tracey led by Clark Tracey, with the final festival day on Sunday 10 August featuring Laura Mvula, Gregory Porter, Christine Tobin, Polar Bear and the Big Chris Barber Band.

The festival will also include jazz masterclasses by Paula Gardiner, Kit Downes, Clark Tracey, Chris Batchelor, Gabriele Mirabassi and Jean Toussaint.

The full programme can be viewed here and tickets are now on sale, available online at breconjazz.com.
