Corea to play rare solo concert

Chick Corea will play a rare solo piano concert at the London Barbican on 19 May following the release of his new album Portraits

In a rare solo outing in the UK, Chick Corea will play at the Barbican, London on 19 May. The concert will follow the release of his new solo album, Portraits, in early 2014.

With a career described by the New York Times as “among the most kaleidoscopic in jazz” that spans from the 1960s to the present day, and appearances with a host of musicians from Cab Calloway, Stan Getz and Miles Davis to more recent collaborators including Bela Fleck, Corea will play at the Barbican as part of his Solo Piano World Tour 2014.

The concert starts at 7.30pm on Monday 19 May 2014 and tickets are between £10 and £35 (plus £2 online booking fee). You can listen to Corea’s latest pieces on SoundCloud and watch a video promoting Corea’s forthcoming Solo World Tour on YouTube. Tickets for the concert can be purchased at barbican.org.uk.
