Paloma Faith to tour UK with Guy Barker

Songstress Paloma Faith rejoins the Guy Barker Orchestra for a nationwide tour this October, covering Bristol to Edinburgh

Following the success of her collaboration with Guy Barker at Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2012 and London Jazz Festival’s Jazz Voice, Paloma Faith (pictured) will team up with the Guy Barker Orchestra for a UK tour this October.

Taking in Bristol, Coventry, London, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and Gateshead, the ‘Symphonic Grace’ tour will see Faith perform orchestral arrangements of material from her latest album, Fall To Grace, as well as jazz standards.

Arranger and composer Guy Barker, born in Chiswick, London and a trumpeter since the age of 12, says of the venture: “Paloma Faith is a truly remarkable artist and amazing performer … she will be collaborating with the dramatic forces of an orchestra made up of 42 world-class musicians. … This promises to be a truly spectacular evening.”

Singer-songwriter Paloma Faith, born in Hackney, London, released her first album in 2009 (Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful). Citing Etta James and Frank Sinatra among her influences, she released her second album, Fall To Grace, in 2012. On rejoining Guy Barker and his Orchestra, Faith says: “I’m so excited to be performing with Guy again and looking forward to putting a new spin on the songs with the new orchestral arrangements.”

The Symphonic Grace Tour kicks off at Bristol’s Colston Hall on 22 October, followed by Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry on 23 October, the London Barbican on 24 October, the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham on 26 October, the Liverpool Philharmonic on 27 October, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on 28 October, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on 29 October, and finally The Sage Gateshead on 30 October.

Tickets for concerts can be bought from individual venues’ websites.
