Ystad Sweden festival tickets on sale




The fourth annual jazz festival in Ystad, Sweden this August includes Hugh Masekela and Kenny Barron

The first names have been announced for the fourth Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival, which features trumpeter South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela and American pianist Kenny Barron with his Platinum Trio, as well as the Tom Harrell Quintet and the Omar Sosa Quarteto AfroCubano.

These and more than 25 other acts, including a mixture of Swedish jazz stars as well as international jazz names, will play at the coastal town of Ystad in the so-called "Provence of Sweden" from 1 to 4 August. Other confirmed acts include the Clarence Penn Quartet, the Elina Duni Quartet, Caecilie Norby, the Fabrizio Bosso Quartet, the Champian Fulton Trio and Dmitry Baevsky.

Pianist and Ystad artistic director Jan Lundgren will also perform in two concerts; one with a "secret Italian guest" and a second with the Harry Allen Quartet. Experimental jazz also makes an appearance with two concerts at Ystad Art Museum. Patrons to the festival have included Quincy Jones, the festival's Lifetime Honorary Ambassador, and author Henning Mankell, this year's Jazz Ambassador.
