Jools boogies at the Boisdale

Jools Holland throws down the boogie-woogie gauntlet at the Boisdale, Canary Wharf next month for his Festival of Boogie Woogie and the Blues

Pictured: Jools Holland.Jools Holland will host a fortnight-long celebration of boogie woogie at the Boisdale, Canary Wharf, London from 19 February to 2 March.

The Festival of Boogie Woogie and the Blues is presented by the popular bandleader, who is also Boisdale's official "patron of music". Two weeks of boogie woogie, rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues MC'd by Holland will feature musicians from around the world.

Holland kicks off the festival's opening night with two pianos on stage for a boogie-woogie showdown between some of the best players in the genre. Other highlights include Jamie Rowan and his Boogie Lightnin' show, Jerry Lee Lewis stylings from the Eric Ranzoni Blues Band, and former Manfred Mann frontman Paul Jones with Digby Fairweather.

The high-energy acts are complemented by some slightly mellower contributors during the festival, such as The Gunther Kuermayer Trio playing songbook standards on 25 and 26 February.

You can book tickets and find out more about the festival at boisdale.co.uk.
