Nice Jazz Festival 2012
In 2011, after many years at the Arènes de Cimiez, the Nice Jazz Festival, Europe's oldest such event (1948), moved into the city and last year, say the organisers, more than 30000 spectators (a record high since 1993) attended.
This year the event again takes place in the city on two stages at Place Massena, Jardin Albert 1er (8-12 July). It features 30 concerts including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ahmad Jamal, Ron Carter, Gregory Porter, Herbie Hancock (pictured), The Bad Plus, Joshua Redman, Trombone Shorty, Ibrahim Maalouf, Eddy Louiss and Richard Galliano.
