BFI marks 50 years of Ronnie's

The British Film Institute on London's South Bank pays tribute to Ronnie Scott's in the club's 50th year with a series of film and live events June 10-28. These include footage of Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Irakere, Chico Freeman, Dizzy Gillespie and Chet Baker, a presentation by Sir John Dankworth on his film music and, curiously, several performances by the late Ronnie Scott's trio and quintet - mirroring perhaps the apocryphal appearances at the club of the Red Arrows, Dagenham Girl Pipers and Pam Ayres.
