Upton jazz festival 24-26 June

Fish Meadow at Upton-upon-Severn is the place to be for a feast of mainstream jazz this weekend as the Upton Jazz Festival launches its 26th edition.

Worcester News is reporting that 12,000 jazz fans are heading towards the event from as far afield as the USA.

The International Oliver Cromwell festival takes place Friday 24-Sunday 26 June and features over 40 bands in riverside marquees and nearby Upton town hall.

The bill includes Alan Barnes, Guy Barker, Bruce Adams, Tony Kinsey, Enrico Tomasso, Richard Pite, Karen Sharp (pictured, by Gordon Sapsed), Robert Fowler, Amy Roberts, ‘Sir’ Alan’s Hot Groovers, John Petters’ Jazz & Swing Band, Pete Allen, Tom Kincaid, Fat Sam’s Band, the Gresty/White Ragtimers, Bob Kerr & His Whoopee Band, Carl Sinclair, the Jive Aces, New Orleans Heat and Ben Holder’s Djongology.

In addition, in the best jazz tradition, there will be daily Riverboat Shuffles with live jazz aboard the MV Conway Castle as it cruises along the river Severn.
