It's a jazz spring at the Barbican




February 2011 - The Barbican Centre, London has announced its spring 2011 programme, featuring Penguin Cafe + Portico Quartet (9 February), singer Kurt Elling with Richard Galliano and Tommy Smith’s Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (14 March), JJ January cover subject Esperanza Spalding with her Chamber Music Society (8 April), and Charlie Haden’s London Concerts. The latter will feature Quartet West with Alan Broadbent and Ernie Watts (21 May), marking the release of the group’s new album Sophisticated Ladies, and the Anglo-American version of Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra (22 May), with Carla Bley arrangements and star soloists.
