The last remaining 100 original drawings and oil paintings of Miles Davis are showcased at Gallery 27 at 27 Cork Street, Mayfair, London W1S 3NG from 7-12 December. Since Davis’s death nearly 20 years ago, the work has been largely under wraps with scant exposure.

Half of the work contained in the exhibition is from the Art Estate of Miles Davis represented by Jonathan Poole of the Compton Cassey Gallery and the remainder, presented by Balmain Fine Art, was inspired by Davis’s girlfriend, Jo Gelbard, a sculptress with whom he spent the last five years of his life.

Celebrities such as Prince, Phil Collins and Diana Ross now own work from previous collections. As the publicist says, “a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of jazz history.” Gallery 27 can be reached on 020 7287 8408.
