Preview: Ealing Jazz Festival

Courtney Pine and Kenny Garrett headline the two nights of this year's Ealing Jazz Festival, with a host of national and local acts also on the bill

The Ealing Jazz Festival, established in 1984, returns to London's Walpole Park and takes place on the weekend of 29 and 30 July, as part of Ealing's Summer Festivals season. Last year acts including Roy Ayers and Yolanda Brown attracted over 10,000 people to the festival. The 2017 line-up is the festival's biggest yet, with bands led by saxophonists Pine and Garrett joined by numerous other acts across the Main, South and Bar stages.

Courtney Pine CBE (pictured right) headlines on the Saturday evening, when he'll be joined by another honoured musician, neo-soul vocalist Omar MBE. The bill also includes high-life guitarist Ebo Taylor and the Saltpont City Band, 12-piece Afrobeat and jazz group Nubiyan Twist, the duo of Lauren Kinsella and Kit Downes, and the Simians of Swing.

On Sunday, appearing on the bill with the Kenny Garrett Quintet will be a range of acts including jazz trio Mammal Hands, guitarist Remi Harris and singer Noemi Nuti (pictured left).

The event will run from midday until 11.00pm on both Saturday and Sunday: the final programme and running order is yet to be finalised. Tickets are priced from £5 for day tickets on Saturday or Sunday to £10 for a weekend ticket (plus booking fee).
